Film Production Glossary: DVCam Format

DV (Digital Video) is a video standard in film production that was launched in 1996, and has spawned a few variations which include DVCam (Sony) and DVCPro (Panasonic).

DVCam format is the film format of choice for Evensaul Ltd., and is also the industry standard for broadcast film production.

DVCam is used in professional film production, and has a 50% wider track than DV and MiniDV, which enables editing precision and maintains audio quality in copying. It also provides an HD (high-definition) mode.
